THE EUROPEAN UNION

The idea of united Europe became increasingly attractive in economic and political institutions after the Second World War  becuse there was a desire to create a peaceful and prosperous and after centuries of antagonism and multual distrust between the European union . However Britain did not want to join the EEC but Britan helped to create the Eurpean free trade . In 1950s Britain  became  independent from European  becuse Britain saw its futuer in trading patterns of commonwealth and the special relationship with USA.

Moreover A referendum means  a direct  vote of the electorate for approval or rejection.  . The referendum was held in 1975, the first in British political history.Somehow , The EEC were voted by French president  Charles de Gaulle. He was verey strict and angery with Britain becuse the relationship with USA .So He did not want Britain  as a rival to the leadership of EEC.
However,Iceland ,Norway and Liechtenstein  are not inculde in text becuse they through the creation of the European Econmic Area(EEA). Today a member states account for 40 per cent of world trade .The institutions involved in the running of the EU are European Council , the council of Ministers ,the European Parliament and the European court of Justice .However , The only directly -elected body in the EU is the European Parliament . The main difference between a Eurosceptic and a Europhile is in Eurosceptic disagree with  EU . On the otherhand  Europhile supporters want economic and political in EU.

All in all ,the majority of Britains wanted a referndum continued membership and belived that Britons had not been given enough information about the argument .
